The Canadian government has provided many options for families to reunify to Canada under family – class immigration. These are known as sponsorship applications.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents (PR) may sponsor their parent, spouse, partner and/or dependent child to become permanent residents in Canada.

Am I Eligible to Sponsor my Family Member?

To sponsor your family member, you must be:

  • Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • 18+ years old
  • Must reside in Canada

If you are a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must demonstrate a strong intention to return to Canada with the family member when they obtain permanent residency.

NOTE: If you are a permanent resident living outside Canada, you can not sponsor a family member.
